Vikas Joshi -
Director of Photography
Welcome to my official website! I’m Vikas Joshi, a passionate and dedicated Director of Photography (DoP) / Cinematographer with years of experience in both the Camera and Electrical Department and as the chief visual storyteller on set. My journey in the world of cinematography has been driven by a constant desire to create compelling and visually immersive experiences, shaping the look and feel of films, TV shows, and digital content.

My Cinematic Vision

I strive to bring a unique visual language to each project I work on, emphasizing story-driven cinematography that enhances the narrative while ensuring that every frame serves a purpose. The power of lighting, composition, and camera movement is at the heart of my approach, and I believe in using these tools to evoke emotion, set tone, and immerse the audience.
Over the years, I have been inspired by some of the world’s finest cinematographers, particularly Roger Deakins and Hoyte van Hoytema, whose work continues to shape and influence my own. Deakins’ masterful use of light and shadow, and his ability to capture the emotional core of a story through visual storytelling, has always inspired me. Likewise, Hoytema’s work—especially his use of color, dynamic compositions, and his seamless integration of practical effects—has pushed me to experiment with new techniques and approaches on set. Their work exemplifies the artistry of cinematography, and I strive to bring that same level of precision and passion to my projects.

Approach to Cinematography
Cinematography is more than just capturing beautiful images; it’s about telling a story. I focus on collaborating with directors, producers, and the entire creative team to ensure that the visual language aligns with the story’s themes and tone. Whether I’m designing a single shot or working across an entire production, I take pride in meticulously crafting the aesthetic to elevate the story being told.
From big-budget commercial films to independent projects, my experience has helped me adapt to various styles and scales of production. I aim to use my craft not just as a technical skill but as an art form that serves the vision of the film.

What Sets Me Apart

-
Versatility: My extensive experience spans across genres and formats, from feature films to TVC's and short films. I’m comfortable working in both traditional cinematic environments and digital spaces.
-
Lighting Mastery: Lighting is a central element of my work. I believe in using light to tell a story, creating mood, and enhancing performance. I constantly study light to ensure it complements and elevates the narrative.
-
Attention to Detail: Every frame matters. Whether it’s a wide shot or an intimate close-up, I believe in meticulous planning and execution to ensure that every shot is visually compelling.
-
Collaboration: Cinematography is a collaborative art, and I value communication with directors, producers, and the entire crew. I believe that a successful project is born from the collective effort of the team.
